When we were small... Dad pebble-dashed the front of our house, but being the artist as he is with plaster work he couldn't just leave it blank. So he made a mural, in pebble-dashing, at the foot of the front bay window. A couple of hills, a bright sun peeking over one, a rabbit silhouetted on the other and a small tree in the distance soon graced the frontage of our home. It being the 70’s he painted this in bright colours and added a couple of bright-red mushrooms framing the scene, and a couple of flowers below my Sisters' bedroom window. The scene is still there, albeit in a slightly more muted shade than it appeared back then. Seeing that sun, and that rabbit, sitting there remind me of the joys of childhood every time I visit my Dad. A few months ago during the re-design of this website I drew a footer-image for the “rabbit” pages and didn’t even realise until I next visited my Dad that I’d tried to re-create the house front. Since then I decided to scrap what I’d been drawing and instead try to create a proper facsimile of Dad’s work. I hope you like this, it always makes _me_ smile. |
